Organizational Development

Organizational development includes conscious and planned activities aimed at improving the effectiveness of an organization and improving its ability to achieve success.  Activities of this nature are often designed to increase the group's understanding of its role, improve its ability to work seamlessly together, and create a greater capacity for dealing with change.  At the same time, a new organizational culture can emerge that is in stronger alignment with its environment.

Common organizaitonal development activities include group processes to define key organizational agreements such as:

  • Mission statement (the definition of why the organization exists)
  • Vision statement (how the group will achieve its goals in 3-5 years)
  • Joint Values (those things that are important to the group as they work together to achieve a common mission and vision)

Organizational development activities can also be built around change management, project management, collaboration with internal and external partners, service orientation and alignment with community needs.
